Responsibilities

  • Oversee programming for Mental Health and Addictions services within the Nunatsiavut division of Mental Wellness and Healing including community and regional planning and management of allocated budget to meet client and community needs
  • Provide direct supervision to community-based Mental Health and Addictions Workers, including clinical support and service oversight in areas of: individual and community outreach and engagement; group and individual support counselling/services; referral and treatment planning; program planning, development, facilitation and evaluation; Mental Health and Addictions land-based programming oversight; community Mental Health and Addictions events and gathering; and community crisis response following critical incidents.
  • Schedule and facilitate regular contact with Mental Health and Addictions Workers to provide the necessary clinical support, including one-on-one conversations regarding each staff member’s services/workload and community and regional staff meetings, both in-person and by telephone/teleconference.
  • Provide administrative supervision to community-based Mental Health and Addictions Workers, including: monthly and annual divisional reporting and service evaluations, staff performance evaluations, staff scheduling and timesheets, and divisional budgeting and purchase requests.
  • Network and collaborate with other community and regional service providers and administrators – including other divisions and departments of Nunatsiavut Government, Labrador Grenfell Health, Child Youth and Family Services, Newfoundland-Labrador School Board, justice and victim services, not-for-profit and community agencies, and others working to improve community and regional Mental Wellness – for strong, comprehensive, and coordinated continuum of care for Mental Wellness for Nunatsiavut beneficiaries
  • Participate in partnerships and working groups with community, regional groups/agencies and federal partners to determine need for and delivery of services, including seeking and building new partnerships where needed
  • In collaboration with Director of Mental Wellness and Healing, support communities in developing and accessing Mental Health and Addictions services which are holistic, trauma-informed, based on harm reduction principles and culturally-appropriate, including: advocacy to address short-falls, educating to increase awareness, and utilizing and building/strengthening community capacity
  • In collaboration with Director of Mental Wellness and Healing and other regional supervisors, coordinate trainings and professional development opportunities for increased staff and community capacity in areas of Mental Wellness and Healing
  • Maintain an active commitment to learning, sharing, and implementing best and promising practices for Inuit Mental Wellness and Healing, including reading pertinent literature and attending professional development
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Social Work (Master’s preferred) or equivalent education and experience in the Mental Health and Addictions field specifically in program development and clinical supervision.
  • Registered member in good standing with the NLCSW or other appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the field of mental health specifically working with Nunatsiavut communities and beneficiaries for Mental Wellness
  • Strong leadership skills, preferably with supervisory experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain linkages and partnerships with service providers
Assets
  • Bilingual in Inuktitut and English
  • Experience in supervision, policy development, and/or strategic planning
