Responsibilities

- Monitor the implementation of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement (compliance and need for further changes / interpretation and issues management)
- Review and manage the Labrador Land Claims Agreement Implementation Plan.
- Analyze the implementation of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement based on the Implementation Plan.
- Sit as Nunatsiavut Government representative on the Implementation Committee
- Liaise with other Federal / Provincial / Territorial Government
- Coordinate change management requirements with key stakeholders such as legal services and the NG Housing Commission.
- Identify and advise on amendments required to the Implementation Plan in regard to changing circumstances.
- Identify and advise on the implementation of the Inuit Nunangat Housing Strategy.
- Identify and advise on Federal Housing Programs.
- Develop Housing Policy in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Participate in the National Inuit Caucus for Housing.
- NG lead for the Affordable Warmth & Home Repair Program.
- Liaise with the Nunatsiavut Housing Commission with regard to programming, policy and the housing needs assessments.
- Assist the Deputy Minister of Nunatsiavut affairs as a Commissioner of the Nunatsiavut Housing Commission.
- Implement Housing Needs Assessments and be the point of contact for housing data requests.
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Degree in related field with an emphasis on policy development.
- Two years of relevant working experience in housing administration.
- Knowledge of Inuit Culture and Inuit Communities.
- Knowledge of the Lands Claim Agreement.
- Excellent administrative and management skills with attention to detail.
- Must have experience working with committees and boards and with members of the public.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral, interpersonal, written communication and organizational skills and the ability to understand and work with legal language and concepts.
- Working knowledge of MS Word/Excel/Windows/Access.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
