Responsibilities

View English and Inuktitut version

  • In collaboration with the Regional Youth Services Manager, seek and secure funding for initiatives which are identified as beneficial by Nunatsiavut youth and youth service providers
  • Seek and share with Nunatsiavut youth and youth service providers information on community, regional, and national youth events, programs, trainings, educational and employment opportunities, including those for mainstream, cultural, and traditional knowledge- and skill-building
  • In collaboration with the Regional Youth Services Manager, engage youth in the development and implementation of a Nunatsiavut Youth Strategy, which is youth-driven and culturally-informed
  • In collaboration with the Regional Youth Services Manager, engage youth in the revival of the Rising Youth Council and Nunatsiavut Youth Symposiums, in a format and structure which matches youth needs/interests and regional/community context(s)
  • Engage regularly with youth and youth service providers throughout the Nunatsiavut region so as to ensure youth input and leadership in developing initiatives for youth, such as events, programs, trainings, educational and employment opportunities, and cultural and traditional knowledge and skill building
  • Build and leverage partnerships with youth, agencies, businesses, and governments to develop and promote meaningful engagement and inclusion of Nunatsiavut youth in activities through the region
  • Promote the implementation of effective, youth-informed, and culturally-appropriate programming and services for Nunatsiavut Youth
  • Advocate for the voice of Nunatsiavut youth to be heard and honoured at appropriate community, regional, provincial, national, and international forums
Qualifications
  • Degree in Social Sciences and/or equivalent education and work experience
  • Have knowledge of issues and concerns faced by Labrador Inuit Youth
  • Knowledge of Nunatsiavut Culture and Nunatsiavut Communities
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, compassion, and inspirational leadership
  • Possess strong organizational and oral/written expression skills
Assets
  • Bilingual in Inuktitut and English
