Responsibilities
View English and Inuktitut version
- Coordinate the internal review process for exploration and quarry Work Plan submissions.
- Implement and enforce the Nunatsiavut Mineral Exploration Standards Regulations.
- Support industry in connecting with Nunatsiavut communities and identifying potential Labrador Inuit Business opportunities.
- Provide advice and expertise on internal, provincial and federal policy and legislation related to mining.
- Liaise with the mineral industry to understand opportunities and barriers to mineral development in Nunatsiavut.
- Participate in upcoming and ongoing mineral related research programs.
- Review and provide technical comments on mining permit applications.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in geology, natural resource management, environmental science or geography.
- Experience in developing mineral and mining policy, or mature understanding of mineral industry from public and private perspective.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively to government and industry.
- Experience with ESRI ArcMap and knowledge of other geological 3D modeling software.
