Responsibilities

View English and Inuktitut version

  • Coordinate the internal review process for exploration and quarry Work Plan submissions.
  • Implement and enforce the Nunatsiavut Mineral Exploration Standards Regulations.
  • Support industry in connecting with Nunatsiavut communities and identifying potential Labrador Inuit Business opportunities.
  • Provide advice and expertise on internal, provincial and federal policy and legislation related to mining.
  • Liaise with the mineral industry to understand opportunities and barriers to mineral development in Nunatsiavut.
  • Participate in upcoming and ongoing mineral related research programs.
  • Review and provide technical comments on mining permit applications.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in geology, natural resource management, environmental science or geography.
  • Experience in developing mineral and mining policy, or mature understanding of mineral industry from public and private perspective.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively to government and industry.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcMap and knowledge of other geological 3D modeling software.
