Responsibilities

  • Develop a community engagement plan in order to ensure that communities are engaged in the IHS Program development, and are kept informed about program activities on an ongoing basis
  • Conduct background research and assist in the preparation of briefings and background documents for various components of the program development (e.g. ethics, capacity building and training, appropriate research methodologies, data management strategies)
  • Liaise with data analysts to coordinate the analysis of survey results, and contribute to the writing of topical results reports
  • Ensure that Inuit culture, knowledge and language are central considerations in all aspects of program development and implementation
  • Schedule all conference calls and meetings of the IHS Steering Committee and working groups
  • Participate in all IHS related meetings and teleconferences, take and distribute all minutes and documents.
  • Coordinate planning, travel and logistics for community engagement activities and meetings.
  • Liaise with community level staff around IHS activities.
  • Assist with the development of survey content.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of work plans, training activities, and regional communications strategy
  • Assist with proposal development to secure external funding for program activities
  • Participate in monitoring progress and preparing monthly reports on activities
  • Travel as required
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • The minimum qualification for this position is a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline: health, public health, political/social science, etc. with a minimum of 1 years of related work or research experience in a similar role; OR Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Nunatsiavut’s land claim agreement;
  • Experience with project coordination
  • Experience with partnership development and maintenance
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health issues and determinants of health;
  • Demonstrated understanding of community needs and the traditional values in Inuit communities, especially as related to health
Assets
  • Bilingual in English and Inuktitut
  • NL Class 5 Drivers Licence
