Responsibilities

- Design and deliver a Child Development program for children under the age of 5.
- Collect information through parents or service providers engagement to determine the different types of programming that should be made available to Parents.
- Plan and deliver Parenting Program which may include but is not limited to:
- Inuit specific parenting (Inunnguiniq)
- Self-care
- Parent support group
- Food security
- Plan and deliver School Readiness Program to prepare children with the social and emotional control skills to prepare them for a structured learning environment.
- Deliver an Afterschool Program for school age children.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
- Oversee the development and maintain the child care space, equipment and materials.
- Ensure that all programming is grounded in Inuit culture and values.
- Partner with and build positive relationships other services providers and professionals including Family Connections, Community Health Workers, CSSD, local schools.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Team leader
- Willing to work flexible hours to accommodate programming
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Education (minimum level 2) or Child Development/Behavior Management with 1-2 years or related experience. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a non-parental role providing support to children and/or families
- Person must also display a proven ability to work in a team approach with children/families.
- Must be able to obtain a clear Code of conduct and Vulnerable sector check.
- Strong communication skills oral and written.
- Strong computer skills.
- Effective time and organizational skills.
- General knowledge of community services and supports
