Responsibilities

- Responsible for working with community, regional, provincial and national health partners, agencies and community groups to support the delivery of health programs in the community related to health promotion and prevention priorities based on identified needs
- Responsible for assessment, planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and population health in accordance with the priorities outlined in the Nunatsiavut Governments’ Department of Health & Social Development’s (DHSD) current Regional Health Plan
- Acts as a resource person and provides health promotion expertise, consultation and continuing education to DHSD staff and other community stakeholders, such as schools, daycares, etc. on various health promotion topics and issues
- Maintains and provides CPR and First Aid competency and training
- Provides supervision and oversight for temporary and/or full-time positions employed by NG to carry out health promotion programming
- Provides staff education and training
- Assists and participates in health-related surveys, studies and research being conducted in Nunatsiavut
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Promotion, Health Education or Health Sciences from an approved University
- 5-10 years of related experience
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Knowledge and understanding of Labrador Inuit culture and traditions
- Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct
- Current CPR and First Aid Trainer certification or willingness to obtain
- A clear understanding Inuit culture and values with a vision of embedding Inuit values, culture and practices in all aspects of health promotion, education and programming
