Responsibilities
View English and Inuktitut version
- Oversight of the annual budget and work plan for the post-secondary programs, including Post-Secondary Student Support program, CRF and EI Part II programs, as well as any post-secondary initiatives being implemented for Labrador Inuit (i.e. Inuit Bachelor of Social Work).
- Monitor key indicators and outcomes to ensure the success of Labrador Inuit, including statistics as required by Service Canada.
- Developing and maintaining positive and effective relationships with the provincial, national and other Inuit organizations, as well as post-secondary institutions, training partners and students.
- Responsible for policy development and preparing proposals and reports.
- Represent the Nunatsiavut Government on any committees (local/regional/provincial/national) that influence and/or impact the decisions and recommendations for the delivery of services to Labrador Inuit post-secondary students.
- Monitor, research and communicate all education initiatives affecting Nunatsiavut to Inuit communities and within the Nunatsiavut Government.
- Responsible for financial and human resources for staff involved in training and employment.
- Chair of the selection and prioritization of student applications for acceptance in post-secondary education and work placements.
- Training, in-servicing, travel and other duties as required
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Education with 5 years experience or equivalent education and work experience. Combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of educational administration, curriculum, instruction and needs-based approaches
- Proven skills in educational research related to Indigenous groups would be an asset
- Knowledge of Inuit Culture and Labrador Inuit Communities.
